Fort Pierce - Friday August 12, 2022: This week on In Focus with IRSC Public Media a conversation about Saharan Dust with Dr. Jason Dunion, a University of Miami hurricane researcher working with NOAA’s Atlantic Meteorological Laboratory.

He’s an expert on what’s called the Saharan Air Layer. He tracks the Saharan Dust clouds that blow our way every year. He explains some of the science behind these dust waves and how they help to dampen the formation of tropical cyclones.

Learn more about the Saharan Dust Layer and Dr. Dunoon's work on this NOAA webpage > https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/saharan-air-layer/.

Then we'll talk with with Tracy Hernandez, the newly appointed Director of Development for Suncoast Mental Health Center.

The Center provides an alternative to traditional therapy and psychiatric services, and the need along the Treasure Coast in the wake of Covid is great.

Great as well is the need to support the services that Suncoast Mental Health provides to students and adults in our region. Tracy will tell us about the services that the Center provides and how you can help support the organization.
