Okeechobee County - Friday October 21, 2022: The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office has retraced an alert issued early Friday about two men trying to coax school kids into their van.

They said they were looking for an older model black Chrysler van, in good condition, with tinted windows.

Late Friday afternoon the Sheriff updated the alert reporting that:

"Uniformed patrol officers located the van in question a little while ago and identified all parties involved. With the help and clarification from the adult complainant on the scene, no child was being coaxed, nor did any inappropriate action occur. Once the adult complaint realized the vehicle and “suspects” were someone, they were familiar with, and not in the area for negative reasons, it was reported back to us immediately."

The OCSO will continue to issue community alerts and update our citizens when issues of concern like this arise to ensure your safety.
