VIDEO: Three Rescued From an Overturned Vehicle in a Vero Beach Canal
Indian River County - Tuesday October 25, 2022: Two elderly women were rescued by Indian River County Deputies and an unidentified Amazon driver when their vehicle flipped upside down into a canal just east of the Indian River Mall.
It happened Saturday October 8th. Body camera footage of the rescue was just released Sunday by the IRC Sheriff's Office.
According to a post on the IRC Sheriff's Facebook page Deputy Dan Whittington was on his way to an unrelated call, when he happen to pass by the accident scene and see a partially submerged vehicle upside down in a canal. Deputy Whittington stopped and entered the canal along with the Amazon driver.
Deputy Patrick Newman arrived soon after, and Indian River County Fire Rescue also responded.
The two women inside the vehicle were rescued and taken to a local hospital. They suffered only minor injuries.
