Brightline to Begin 125 MPH Testing for the First Time Today in Brevard and Orange Counties

Florida - Wednesday March 1, 2023: Brightline will begin testing trains at maximum speeds of 125 miles-per-hour as soon as Wednesday, March 1, between Orlando International Airport and Cocoa.

The testing will take place along the new 35-mile dedicated rail corridor that runs parallel to the Beachline Expressway/SR 528 in Orange and Brevard Counties.

The rail corridor is fenced and there are no public grade crossings. With no public grade crossings, train testing will not impact motorists.

Brightline trains will be testing between 7am and 7pm daily and testing will continue throughout the Spring.

The testing is being done in preparation for the launch of intercity passenger rail service between Miami and Orlando, which may begin as soon as this summer.

Brightline’s current 110 mph testing along the corridor from Cocoa south to West Palm Beach is still ongoing.
