HIDDEN HISTORY: Fireplace Remnant a Likely Link to Century-Old Settlement

Vero Beach, FL – The curious brick structure that stands near Jungle Trail on the barrier island probably dates back to the Narrows, a village that sprang up along the Indian River around 1880. The Narrows faded away when the Florida East Coast railroad was built on the west side of the river.
