Fort Pierce - Friday January 13, 2023: This week on In Focus with IRSC Public Media, design and construction lessons from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, a conversation with Valerie Slack, an architect and principal owner of Native Design Architecture here in Fort Pierce.

She responded to a call from the American Institute of Architects to help survey and compile a report on the damage done by Ian. She'll tell us about what she learned from the damage, and what shoreline homeowners, or those planning to build on the coast, need to do to protect against storm surge. Important lessons for us here on the east coast in the wake of Hurricane Nicole.

If you have design or sustainability questions, click on this link to contact Valerie and learn more about fortifying your property against storms.

Then Terissa Aronson joins us. She is the President and CEO of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce. We talk about the 37th Annual Business and Industry Awards which honor the best businesses, restaurants, non-profits, and others in St. Lucie County.

It's happening on Friday January 27th at the MidFlorida Events Center in Port St. Lucie. Cast your vote for the best at www.stluciechamber.org and Make your reservations today.
