Hurricane Dorian Morning Update

Hurricane Dorian hasn’t moved in more than 18 hours, but it should begin doing so today.  Life-threatening storm surge, tropical storm force winds and periods of heavy rain will begin to overspread Florida’s Treasure Coast and Space Coast throughout the day.  The category 3 storm is expected to move north-northwest and parallel the Atlantic Coast, with those same hazards spreading north to the First Coast through Wednesday and early Thursday.CURRENT 

STORM INFORMATION

Hurricane Dorian has weakened overnight , and maximum sustained winds are now at 120 mph.  The minimum central pressure was at 950 mb and the storm was still stationary, according to the Tuesday 5 am update from the National Hurricane Center.  WATCHES AND 

WARNINGS

A Tropcal Storm Warning was issued from north of Ponte Vedra Beach to Altamaha Sound, Georgia.A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for Lantana to Florisa/Georgia border.  A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for North of Deerfield Beach to south of Lantana.  A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jupiter Inlet to Ponte Vedra Beach.  A Hurricane Watch is in effect for North of Deerfield Beach to Jupiter Inlet and
North of Ponte Vedra Beach to Florida/Georgia border.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for North of Deerfield Beach to Jupiter Inlet.  A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for North of Golden Beach to Deerfield Beach and Lake Okeechobee.  FORECAST UPDATEMajor Hurricane Dorian has stalled just north of the Grand Bahama Island, where it continues to gradually weaken.  Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds out to 160 miles from the eye.  Outer rain bands are already producing tropical storm force winds for much of southern Florida.  Dorian is expected to resume a motion to the northwest Tuesday, then move parallel to the Atlantic Coast through Wednesday. The majority of the cone of uncertainty, where the center may tack, now does not include the State of Florida.
