Remembering Louis Zamperini, Olympian And War Hero
Louis Zamperini, an Olympian and a war hero, has died at the age of 97. Zamperini ran in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and survived 47 days on a raft in the Pacific after his bomber crashed. Shortly after he came ashore, he was captured by the Japanese, enduring two years of harsh treatment as a prisoner of war. Unbroken, a book about his life, has been adapted for a forthcoming film.

Two Workers Missing at West Virginia Mine
Rescue teams are trying to find two miners still missing at the Aracoma Mine in Melville, W. Va., about 60 miles southwest of Charleston. Nineteen others escaped Thursday evening when a conveyor belt deep in the mine caught fire. Anna Sale of West Virginia Public Broadcasting reports.

UVa Board Reverses Itself, Reinstates President
The governing board at the University of Virginia voted unanimously to reinstate President Teresa Sullivan on Tuesday. Virginia's governor ordered the board to make a final decision on whether to keep Sullivan following more than two weeks of turmoil after several board members worked behind the scenes to oust the popular chief executive. Students and faculty called Sullivan's dismissal a coup and said the board was pushing too fast to make major changes at the university.
