This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about top local news stories in 2015.  For our entire area: All Aboard Florida was considering having its planned high-speed passenger trains stop here on their trips between Miami and Orlando.  For Indian River County: The Vero Beach municipal power plant shut down.  Electricity comes from the Orlando Utilities Commission.  Airline service started between Vero Beach and Newark.  For St. Lucie County: The Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute closed its doors in Port St. Lucie.  Its neighbor, the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, was teetering.  They were supposed to make the Treasure Coast a Research Coast.  For Martin County, an explosion and fire destroyed the Viesel Fuel Facility in Stuart.  That’s Viesel with a V -- as in Very Hot.  I’m Paul Janensch.
