Back to school

This is Paul Janensch with a Treasure Coast Essay about the re-opening of schools.  In Indian River and St. Lucie counties, school begins today.  In Martin County, school begins Tuesday.  Does your school have an earlier start time?  Some do – to allow more minutes for recess or reading.  The summer break is shorter than it used to be so students can take final exams before the winter break.  Moms and dads, do your girls and boys have all the supplies they will need?  Backpacks, of course.  Something to write with?  Something to write on?  Folders?  What about lunch or a snack or both?  Are they expected to bring a Zip drive or USB drive to save computer work?  Are they allowed to bring a smart phone or tablet?  If you don’t know, better ask.  And be sure to tell your young scholars as they depart: “Hey, school is fun!”  I’m Paul Janensch.
