Woman Who Threw Snake at Martin County Deputy Arrested Following Chase and Crash

MCSO deputies attempted a traffic stop but the woman fled leading deputies on a "pursuit" during which she "intentionally" hit an MCSO Motorcycle unit.

Martin County - Wednesday May 18, 2022: Martin County Sheriff deputies arrested a woman who threw a snake at them after she fled a traffic stop, struck one of the pursing Sheriff's motorcycle units, ran into another MCSO patrol car, and hit a civilian pickup with 3 people inside.

According to a post on the Martin County Sheriff's website, deputies attempted a traffic stop but the woman fled leading them on a "pursuit" during which she "intentionally" hit an MCSO Motorcycle unit.

The chase ended outside a Circle K service station along Warfield Avenue in the western part of the County. When she finally came to a stop after hitting the patrol car and the pickup, a deputy approached and "she threw a snake at him," according to the MCSO.

The deputies who were hit by the woman were not injured. However four people were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the incident is continuing. The woman's identify has not been released yet.

Warfield Avenue was closed for a time while detectives investigate and the disabled vehicles are removed.
