Martin County Schools: Vote for Sophie Araque-Liu's Google Doodle

You can cast your vote for Sophie at: https://doodles.google.com/d4g/. Click on the Grades "10-12" link, find the Florida link which features Sophie's doodle, and vote. Voting is open now until early Wednesday morning, June 13, at 3 am.

Martin County - Friday July 8, 2022: Martin County Schools is encouraging Florida residents to vote for Sophie Araque-Liu's Google Doodle.

This past May, the Martin County High School junior was named Florida's winner in the 14th annual Doodle for Google competition. Sophie is one of 54 students from the fifty-four U.S. states and territories who are competing in the contest.

Each contestant was challenged to draw a doodle on the theme of - "I care for myself by...".

In her submission Sophie wrote - "Often I struggle to shoulder a burden on my own and forget that I have so many people, like my mom, who care about me and want to help. Opening up and letting others support me not only relieves my stress, [but] it [also] lets me tackle things I could never do on my own."

Google will announce five national finalists later this year, one of whom will have their Doodle featured on the Google homepage for a day.

The national winner will take home a $30,000 college scholarship and their school will receive a $50,000 tech package for the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or technology program.

The entries are being judged by Selena Gomez, recording artist, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist; Elyse Fox, director, model and mental health activist; and Juliana Urtubey, 2021 National Teacher of the Year.
