St. Lucie County: Glades Mulch Fire 100% Contained, but Heavy Smoke Likely to Continue for Days

This was a large mulch fire and because of the large amount of mulch that burned, there will be heavy smoke in that area over the next several days, and possibly over the next few weeks.

St. Lucie County - Friday August 26, 2022: The Glades Mulch Fire that occurred Thursday near Glades Cut Off and Range Line Road in St. Lucie County has been 100% contained after consuming 25 acres.

Several fire district units joined the St. Lucie County Fire District and the Florida Forestry Service at Rangeline and Glades Cutoff to battle this large mulch fire. It sent plumes of thick smoke up across the county that could be seen for miles. The fire is contained to the mulch only.

This was a large mulch fire and because of the large amount of mulch that burned, there will be heavy smoke in that area over the next several days, and possibly over the next few weeks.

Fire crews will be on scene throughout the coming days continuing mop up. Caution is advised when driving through the area, the smoke may cause visibility problems.
