Cyclist Struck and Killed by Motorist in Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce police spokesman Officer Curtis Jennings said the cyclist was a 30-year old man, but declined to release the name until next of kin have been notified.

Fort Pierce - Wednesday August 31, 2022: Fort Pierce Police have launched a Traffic Homicide Investigation after a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Virginia Avenue Monday afternoon.

Fort Pierce police spokesman Officer Curtis Jennings said the cyclist was a 30-year old man, but declined to release the name until next of kin have been notified. It happened in the 1900 block of Virginia Avenue shortly after 5 pm Monday.

The cyclist was riding north across the west bound lane of Virginia Avenue when he was struck. The vehicle driver remained on the scene following the accident.

Jennings said there is no indication at this point that the vehicle driver was impaired, nor did it appear that any traffic regulations had been violated, but the investigation continues, he said.
