Treasure Coast - Monday October 10, 2022: Tuesday, October 11th is the deadline to register to vote in the 2022 general election.

“It’s the absolute last day to register to vote," says Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan, "if you want to be eligible to vote in the November 8th General Election.”

Voters can register, in office, up until 5 pm Tuesday. There are four registration offices in St. Lucie County says Election Supervisor Gertrude Walker. “We have one at the Orange Blossom Business Center, as well as one at Traditions, at the tax collector’s office. One on Walton Road at the Civic Center Plaza. And we also have one in St. Lucie West at the Courthouse."

Or you can use your computer or cell phone to register, nearly up to midnight Tuesday, says Walker. "You can go online and register 24 hours a day ... until 11:59 PM (Tuesday) online.”

If you do register to vote online, says Swan, you'll need to have a Florida Driver’s License or a Florida ID card.” Swan also says she hasn’t seen a big increase in registration, but then the last day is usually the busiest. “What usually happens is that they all show up last day and our office gets very busy.”

Walker says Hurricane Ian caused no delays in St. Lucie County, and there was only a minor, one-day delay, getting vote by mail ballots out in Martin and Indian River Counties because of the storm.
