New PSL City Manager Jesus Merejo Sworn In

City of Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie - Monday February 20, 2023:  Jesus Merejo has been sworn in as the City of Port St. Lucie’s new City Manager.

In brief remarks before the City Council after he was sworn in on Friday, Merejo recognized that the city continues to grow, calling it an exciting time for Port St. Lucie that presents new challenges, and opportunities.

“With this growth, new opportunities come and new responsibilities for all of us," said Merejo. "Our city is changing, we must change with it. We must increase our reliance on data, we must grow our ability to innovate and build tremendous projects. The good news is we are ready and we have an incredible team.”

Merejo thanked the council members for supporting him and recognized the contributions of former City Manager Russ Blackburn, saying he will continue the commitment to excellence.

“To our partners, we’re here to work with you and we’re going to create great things in this city. To our residents we’re here to serve you. We’re committed to excellence and outstanding customer service. That has been one of our trademarks and we’ll continue to do that under my leadership," he said.

“I know that we are all very excited," said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin. "There’s going to be a lot of things happening in Port St. Lucie and I’m thrilled to have you in that seat as the rest of us are. And all of our citizens should be very proud."
