Station Manager

Chris Puorro has been working professionally in the radio industry for more than twenty years.  In 2012, he joined WUCF-FM in Orlando, Florida as the Operations Manager.  He also taught “Radio Programming and Production” for the School of Communication at the University Of Central Florida.  Prior to joining WUCF, Chris was the Operations Manager for Nassau Broadcasting in various Northeastern Markets, including Cape Cod, Maryland, and New Jersey.  His radio career has also taken him to New York City, Philadelphia, and the New Jersey Shore as a Program Director and On-Air Talent.  He was nominated three times as “Music Director of the Year”, a national award from Gavin Magazine, winning the award in 1999. Diana is the head of the Development Department manages WQCS fundraising plan including membership, donor relations, major gift and planned giving. She also oversees special events and marketing for the station and is often found in the community representing WQCS at networking events. Jill Roberts earned her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She first came to WQCS in 1987.  In her years reporting news on the Treasure Coast she has won numerous awards from the Associated Press in categories such as hard news, sports and use of sound.  Her reporting has also earned two regional Edward R. Murrow awards and a Gabriel Award.

Operations Manager

Joe has been employed with WQCS since May 1990.  He has worked with every department of the station.  In 1998,  he became a full time employee as the auxiliary services specialist for the WQCS Radio Reading Service.  Joe has hosted Radio Memories since 1992 and now serves as the operations manager working with all departments of the station to facilitate the day-to-day operation’s needs. Joe can be contacted at 772-462-7815  or by email: jlenarti@irsc.edu

Rodney Spencer is originally from Brooklyn NY.  He has worked in radio over thirty years.  He came to Florida from the Washington D.C. Metro area where he worked at several radio stations in Virginia and Washington D.C.

Rodney started in Philadelphia doing voice work, so he has come full circle being the afternoon news host for WQCS.

Ted Burrows has more than a half-century in radio and newspapers.  He is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a communications technician at the White House.

Ted retired after 23 years as a writer and editor for the Scripps newspapers and joined WQCS in 2003 as part-time announcer-newscaster.

A native of the Genesee River Valley and the Finger Lakes of New York State, Jon U. Bell graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science and a Master’s degree in Science Education from Columbia University in New York City. His duties as Associate Professor of Astronomy at IRSC include teaching astronomy, earth science, science education and planetarium operation to college students. As Planetarium Director he writes, produces and presents high quality educational astronomy programs to college classes, elementary and secondary schools, and the public. Additionally, Bell writes and hosts, “Skywatch,” a daily astronomy program on WQCS 88.9 public radio.

Host of WQCS Lifelines

Patti is registered nurse with over 30 years of experience Dr. Patti Corey-Souza settled in South Florida in 1994. She has worked with patients in the fields of pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and oncology, which is her nursing specialty. In addition to health services for students and employees at Indian River State College (IRSC), Dr. Corey is also an associate professor who has been involved with curriculum development and teaching in the areas of wellness, personal safety, health information technology, and health care management.
