Treasure Coast - Wednesday June 28, 2022: Summer is here and temperatures are rising, remember to follow these tips to keep you dog, and other pets, cool during the hot summer months:
1. Keep your dog well hydrated.
2. Make sure they have plenty of shade to play in.
3. Never leave your dog in the car, not even with the window cracked.
4. Check the asphalt before walking you dog on it. If its too hot for your hand, than its too hot for your dogs paw. Early morning or late evening walks are best. (You can also purchase booties for your dog).
6. MOST IMPORTANT - Watch for signs of heat stroke. If you notice that your dog is panting excessively , having mobility problems, or has discolored gums, seek veterinary help immediately.
