Local Brewery Has Starbucks Frothing Over Stout's Name
The giant coffee chain sent a cease-and-desist letter to the owner of Exit 6 Pub and Brewery in Missouri. Starbucks told the pub to stop referring to one of its dark, frothy beers as "the frappicino." Starbucks noted it sounds a lot like its trademarked frozen coffee drink.

Labor Department's December Report Shows Jobless Rate Dipped
The Labor Department on Friday said the nation's jobless rate fell to 6.7 percent as U.S. employers added 74,000 jobs to payrolls while more Americans stopped looking for work in December. In November, the unemployment rate was 7 percent.

Report Shows 288,000 New Jobs In June
June was a good month for job creation, according to the new Labor Department report. Employers added 288,000 positions to payrolls and the unemployment rate fell to 6.1 percent.

In 24 hours, the Italian navy and aid groups rescued 6,500 people from wooden and rubber boats off the coast of Libya. The migrants did not have enough fuel to reach Europe.
California DMV Prepares For Undocumented Residents Applying For Licenses
The state is expecting 1.6 million undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses when a new law takes effect Jan. 1. The DMV is adding 800 employees to help handle the influx.

The massive magnitude 8.6 earthquake in April off the coast of Indonesia was felt from Bangladesh to Australia. But it caused little damage and no major tsunami. Seismologists studying the quake say it revealed some interesting features about how the Earth's tectonic plates move.

Suspect Arrested In Etan Patz Kidnapping Case
Charges could be filed in the case of Etan Patz, a 6-year-old boy who disappeared from his New York neighborhood in 1979. Pedro Hernandez, who was a bodega clerk when Patz disappeared, has been arrested. Audie Cornish talks to Bob Hennelly of member station WNYC.
