St. Lucie County - Wednesday April 4, 2022: St. Lucie County Sheriff's Deputies recovered the body of 32-year-old Daniel Nelson Pastor on Wednesday.
Pastor had been reported missing on Sunday by the Port St. Lucie police. His body was found in the St. Lucie Canal on Wednesday. His remains were identified by the the SLC Sheriff's Office Thursday.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers initially responded to a 911 call reporting a possible manatee lodged in the canal behind a home near the 500 block of NE Solida Circle in Port St. Lucie. When FWC officers discovered it was a body they called the Port St. Lucie Police Department who then contacted the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office after establishing jurisdiction.
In a post on the Sheriff's Facebook page, SLC Sheriff Ken Mascara said his dive team and detectives "retrieved the body of a white male between 20 and 40 years of age."
The medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death.
