Fort Pierce - Tuesday April 12, 2022: Indian River State College (IRSC) recognized outstanding student contributions to the College’s Athletics program during the 2021-2022 season at the Athletic Awards Banquet on Tuesday, April 12 held in Bailey Auditorium on the IRSC Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex in Fort Pierce.
Indian River Pioneer Pride Award: Awarded to a member of each athletic team, the Pioneer Pride Award honors IRSC student athletes for their demonstration of outstanding sportsmanship throughout the season.

The 2022 Pioneer Hall of Fame Inductee: The late Dr. David (Doc) Anderson (1941-2021) is the 2022 Indian River State College Pioneer Hall of Fame Inductee. Dr. Anderson’s career with IRSC began in 1969. It included roles as Assistant Dean of Instruction (1973–1982), Dean of Students (1982–1989), and Vice President of Student Affairs, a position he held from 1989 until his retirement in June 2003. A graduate of Lincoln Junior College, he was the first of his family to attend an institution for higher education. Even at Lincoln, he was a leader and served as president of the student government association.
Prior to joining IRSC, he taught with the Martin County School District. Concurrent with his employment at IRSC, Dr. Anderson served as a Martin County School Board member. The David L. Anderson Middle School in Stuart is named in his honor. A lifelong educator, Anderson was both an example and an inspiration for others seeking a better future.
