2 Suspects Confess to Recent Crime Spree Involving 15 Auto Burglaries

Port St. Lucie - Thursday May 12, 2022: Port St. Lucie Police Detectives have charged two juveniles in connection with 15 cases of auto burglaries in the eastern region of Port St. Lucie.

The two suspects were arrested Wednesday night and taken to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

One of the suspects is 16 years old and the other is 15. They are now facing 14 counts of burglary , 9 counts of larceny, 1 count of armed burglary, 1 count of grand theft of a firearm, and 1 count of illegal use of a credit card.

According to a news release from the PSL Police Department, Detectives were able identified the pair from a video taken by a surveillance camera at one of the crime scenes. When they were questioned the suspects "confessed to being responsible for the 15 auto burglaries," states the release.

The auto burglaries the auto burglaries occurred primarily during the overnight hours. The suspects are accused of stealing wallets, credit cards, cash, sunglasses, and other items of value from the vehicles.

One of the victims reported that their stolen credit card had been used by the suspects at a local McDonald’s. In another case a .40 caliber handgun was stolen which the suspects threw into the canal along the 500 block of SE Thanksgiving Avenue, after firing two rounds into the water.

The auto burglaries occurred in the following Port St. Lucie locations - the 2100 block of SE Triumph Road, the 1400 block of SE Grapeland Ave, the 2200 block of SE Shipping Rd, the 1800 block of SE Fallon Drive, the 400 block of SE Starflower Ave, the 2500 block of SE Dogwood Avenue, the 1500 block of SE Flintlock Road, and the 1400 block of SE Minorca Avenue, and the 2200 block of SE Wald Street.

PSLPD Detectives are continuing the investigation and attempting to recover additional stolen property that was discarded by the suspects.
