The pause is indefinite. It will be lifted once Waste Pro catches up.

Port St. Lucie - Thursday May 19, 2022 : The City of Port St. Lucie will temporarily pause curbside recycling services, beginning Monday, May 23 so that Waste Pro can focus on past due garbage collection service. The pause is indefinite. It will be lifted once Waste Pro catches up.

For those who already have a recycling cart currently curbside, Waste Pro is behind schedule and will make every effort to pick it up on or before Saturday, May 21.

All items left curbside at people’s homes, including material in recycling carts, will be collected like trash on regular trash collection days. Curbside recycling will be restored when normal service levels of garbage collection resume and remain consistent. Until the new waste hauler begins in September, Waste Pro will continue to pick up residents’ garbage on normal collection days.

“We understand our residents’ frustrations and are working on multiple fronts to improve our waste collection services,” said Mayor Shannon Martin. “During this transition time between waste haulers, we want to thank our residents for their patience, and we look forward to the day we can resume normal curbside recycling collection.”

During this temporary pause, residents can hold their recyclables or utilize the City’s Voluntary Drop-off Site and the St. Lucie County Solid Waste Baling & Recycling Facility to drop off recyclable materials for free. Please bring empty and clean materials to:

• Port St. Lucie’s free Voluntary Drop-off Site behind the green, fenced-in area, just west of Florida’s Turnpike overpass at the corner of Cameo Boulevard and Crosstown Parkway. This collection site will be available to Port St. Lucie residents, seven days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., until further notice.
• St. Lucie County Solid Waste Baling & Recycling Facility, 6120 Glades Cut-Off Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981. This collection site is available to St. Lucie County residents, six days a week, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Beginning in September, FCC Environmental Services Florida, LLC will be Port St. Lucie’s new solid waste collection hauler. Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected once a week on a designated day. Bulky waste will be collected once a month on a designated day. The new solid waste collection schedule will be announced to residents by mid-August 2022.
