Governor Appoints Six to State Boards and Commissions

Tallahassee - Friday May 20, 2022: Governor DeSantis Friday made the following six appointments:

Brian Swope and Tim Tolbert appointed to the Florida Building Commission

Brian Swope - Swope, of Wesley Chapel, is the Vice President of the Tampa Roofing Company. He is the Chairman of the Roofing Technical Advisory Committee and past President of the Florida Roofing and Sheetmetal Association. Swope earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi.

Tim Tolbert - Tolbert, of Navarre, is the Building Official and Director of Building Services for Escambia County. He is a member of the International Code Counsel and the Building Official Association of Florida. Tolbert earned a certificate from Florida State Fire College.

These two appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Laura Moody appointed to the Eastern Florida State College District Board of Trustees

Laura Moody - Moody is the Chief Legal Counsel for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. She is of Counsel for the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court and a member of the Brevard County Bar Association. Moody earned her bachelor’s degree from Flagler College, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Central Florida, and a juris doctor from Florida A&M University.

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Sonya Rood appointed to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Sonya Rood - Rood, of St. Augustine, is involved in the management of her family’s hunting plantation. She is actively engaged in her community, supporting various charities including a local nonprofit, Rethreaded, Inc. Rood was named Ambassador of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Youth Conservation Center.

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Stacy Angier and Paul Tanner appointed to to the North Broward Hospital District

Stacy Angier - Angier, of Margate, is the Principal at Abundant Life Christian Academy. She is a current board member for the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center and the League of Christian Schools. Angier earned her bachelor’s degree from Miami Christian College and a master’s degree from Oral Roberts University.

Paul Tanner - Tanner, of Fort Lauderdale, is the Owner and Founder of Las Olas Capital Advisors. He is a board member for the Urban League of Broward County and sits on the Investment Committee of Broward Community Foundation. Tanner earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida Atlantic University.

These two appointments are not subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
