Fort Pierce Native Shamaria Roberts Serves at Naval Aviation Technical Training Center

“Leaving home to join the Navy taught me that I don’t have to be stagnant,” said Roberts. “I can make it out in the world and achieve great things.”

Fort Pierce - Tuesday Monday June 6, 2022: Fort Pierce native Shamaria Roberts is serving as an Airman Apprentice for the U.S. Navy at the Naval Aviation Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola, Florida.

Roberts joined the Navy less than one year ago and now serves as an airman. “I wanted to join the Navy to establish a military legacy carrying on the name as Roberts,” said Roberts. “I wanted to make myself proud by overcoming obstacles I didn’t think I could accomplish.”

Naval Air Technical Training Center’s mission is to provide world class professional aviation warriors to the Navy fleet supporting combat readiness anywhere on the globe, while taking good care of our people, families and being good neighbors and stewards in the city of Pensacola and the surrounding region.

As a student at NATTC, Roberts is learning the skills needed to be a successful naval aviation warfighter. “Leaving home to join the Navy taught me that I don’t have to be stagnant,” said Roberts. “I can make it out in the world and achieve great things.”

“The Navy plays an important role in national security because of our unique presence at sea,” said Roberts. “In my short Naval career thus far, I’m most proud of becoming the Assistant Recruit Petty Officer (AROC) at boot camp,” said Roberts. “I didn’t expect to hold such an important role, and I learned a lot from the experience.”
