Gifford - Thursday June 9, 2022: The Indian River County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the early morning shooting death of a person in Gifford.
Deputies responded to the 4500 block of 33rd Avenue in Gifford shortly before 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
The victim was shot and transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center where the person "ultimately succumbed to the injuries," according to a news release from the IRC Sheriff's Office. "Detectives are working all leads," and "there is no known danger to the community," states the release.
The age, gender, and name of the victim have not yet been disclosed and the Sheriff's Office says "no suspect information ... can be presently shared."
