Port St. Lucie - Tuesday July 12, 2022: Law enforcement authorities deployed a helicopter, a surveillance drone, and two K 9 Units during their pursuit of two young men on Monday afternoon, both of whom were eventually taken into custody on a variety of felony allegations.
Port St. Lucie Police Criminal Investigation Division Detectives arrested 23-year-old Martavious Ellison and 24-year-old Sammuel Ellison. The pair are cousins and both are from Ft. Pierce. They are now facing multiple drug charges, among other allegations.
According to a post on the Port St. Lucie Police Facebook page Martavious "was a wanted narcotics dealer who was actively selling cocaine and fentanyl in Port St. Lucie."
When PSL CID Detectives attempted to take him into custody he fled in his vehicle with his cousin Sammuel at his side. Martavious eventually crashed into a ditch at NW St. James Drive and NE Charleston Oaks Drive in Port St. Lucie.
Martavious and Sammuel then fled on foot, SID Detectives gave chase and caught Sammuel soon after, but Martavious got away, for a while.
A perimeter was established with the help of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and a search for Martavious was launched using "drones, a helicopter, and two PSL Police Department K9 Teams."
For three-hours Officer Will Harris and K9 Bodhi along with Officer Corey Krecic and K9 Jaxson searched for Martavious. K9 Jaxson finally located Martavious hiding under a large palmetto bush in a densely wooded lot. Martavious sustained a K9 bite to his leg when while being taken into custody.
