Get to Know Port St. Lucie by Joining City U's Class of ‘22

City University is a free nine-session course that offers participants a first-hand look into City operations. Residents will graduate as an Ambassador of the City with a greater understanding of municipal operations and their local elected officials and City staff.

Port St. Lucie - Thursday July 14, 2022: After two years of being conducted virtually, City U is back in person and registration opens July 18.

City University is a free nine-session course that offers participants a first-hand look into City operations. Residents will graduate as an Ambassador of the City with a greater understanding of municipal operations and their local elected officials and City staff.

Participants learn about various topics like how decisions are made, how City funds are allocated and how departments operate. Residents are also briefed on the current status and future plans for Port St. Lucie’s development.

The first class begins Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 5:30 p.m.. Classes will be held at the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd.

Classroom agendas include lively discussions, practical applications and other interactive activities to ensure participants understand the City's day-to-day operations. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour City facilities and receive a City University shirt. Dinner will be provided at each session. Upon completion, students are invited to a graduation ceremony at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center, where they'll be awarded a Certificate of Competition and receive an exclusive City U pin.

Space is limited. Those 18 and older who live in Port St. Lucie can register to attend. A limited number of high school students with a letter of recommendation from an educator also may apply.

Classes meet every Wednesday from 5:30-8:30 p.m., including a graduation ceremony.
