Port St. Lucie - Saturday July 23, 2022: To help residents learn about the future of solid waste collection in the city when the new waste hauler takes over in September, the City is hosting two open houses on Aug. 2 and Aug. 29.
Residents are invited to drop by anytime from 6-8 p.m. to visit a variety of booths and speak one-on-one with City staff and representatives from the City’s new waste hauler, FCC Environmental Services Florida, LLC.
They’ll discuss the transition from manual to automated garbage collection and provide information about the new collection schedule, garbage cart delivery, resuming recycling, disposal of yard waste and bulky and FCC’s completed progress to ensure a smooth transition.
There are two opportunities to participate:
• Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, 6-8 p.m. at Tradition Town Hall, 10799 SW Civic Lane, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987.
• Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, 6-8 p.m. at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34984.
The new service with FCC will restore consistent and reliable collection services for Port St. Lucie residents. It will bring a simplified schedule: garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected once a week on the same designated day. Bulky waste will be collected once a month on the same designated day. Staff and FCC representatives will be available at these open houses to answer questions regarding the schedule and offer tips to maximize the benefits of the new automated service. FCC’s new collection schedule will be available online by Aug. 2 at: www.CityofPSL.com/SolidWaste.
If a resident is unable to attend, notices of the new collection schedules will be mailed to all solid waste residential customers in August. In addition, when the new garbage carts are delivered, instructions on care and use will be affixed to the cart. As always, information will be available, including frequently asked questions, at www.CityofPSL.com/SolidWaste. Residents can continue to ask questions or report a service disruption by calling 1PSL at 772-871-1775 or by visiting: www.CityofPSL.com/1PSL.
