2022 Python Challenge Now Underway

Its taking place in the Everglades at the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area.

Florida - Friday August 5, 2022: The 2022 Florida Python Challenge® has begun. It kicked off Friday at 9:30 am.

The event is a 10-day competition and conservation effort aimed at removing the Burmese python from public lands in South Florida. The public is encouraged to help get rid of this invasive species and help protect the native species and habitat of the Everglades. To learn more visit: https://flpythonchallenge.org/participate/.

The annual event is sponsored by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and their partners.

Its taking place in the Everglades at the Francis S. Taylor Wildlife Management Area.

Participants should meet at the S-356 water control structure which is off Tamiami Trail, U.S. 41, just west of Krome Avenue, on the north side of the road. Its approximately 1.3 miles west of the Miccosukee Resort.

Make sure you bring water, sunblock, bug spray and closed-toe shoes.
