Florida - Wednesday August 10, 2022: The tropical wave that the National Hurricane Center has been tracking since Sunday is waning in strength. According to the 2 pm update from the NHC the shower and thunderstorm activity associated with this tropical wave has decreased since Tuesday.
The wave is located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. It's expected to move west to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the
tropical Atlantic during the next several days, "and significant development is becoming less likely."
The wave was near 33W and 20N stretching southward across a 1011 mb low near 12N and 33W. Scattered to moderate convection was still seen from 08N through 14N and between 30W and 40W. But again, while some gradual development of this system is possible over the next few days, the NHC says environmental conditions are forecast to become less favorable by this weekend.
