Florida - Wednesday August 10, 2022: A tropical wave that the National Hurricane Center has been tracking since Sunday continues to produce disorganized showers and
thunderstorms, as well as some scattered moderate convection.
However, while some gradual development of this system is still possible over the next few days, NHC forecasters continue to say that "environmental conditions are forecast to become less favorable by this weekend."
As of 8 am Wednesday morning, the tropical wave was located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands along 32W to 33W and extending from 04N to 19N, moving west at about 15 knots. Scattered moderate convection was detected from 06N to 16N and between 24W and 41W.
This system is expected to continue moving west to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the tropical Atlantic during the next several days.
