Port St. Lucie - Saturday August 13, 2022: Indian River State College (IRSC) in partnership with the #DoYouGiveaRuck team, will host the 2nd Annual Family Fun Ruck at its Pruitt Campus in Port St. Lucie on Saturday, September 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The one-mile walk for all ages benefits DDS4VetS, Sarah's Kitchen and scholarships for IRSC Veteran students.
The walk is organized by #DoYouGiveARuck, a nonprofit group of military veterans and supporters dedicated to improving veterans' lives through raising public awareness and fundraising for organizations whose programs and activities support veterans.
"The Family Fun Ruck was established to honor the people lost during the tragedy of September 11, 2001, as well as those lost during the Global War on Terror as a direct result of those tragic events," shares #DoYouGiveARuck Founder Jimmy Lee Jackson. "For this event, we choose to celebrate life and live in a way that would make our friends and family proud. We will ruck in their honor while teaching our children the importance of September 11th and how it changed the world."
Participation in the event is free. In addition to the one-mile Ruck, attendees can expect family-friendly activities, K-9 demonstrations, live music, raffles, food trucks and vendors. Sign-up takes place online at https://runsignup.com/Race/FL/PortSaintLucie/FamilyFunRuck?fbclid=IwAR0RISBW09Qkoh_HxgGOacJ0agrfj9_hcVt6fOLXOBZA1OjsNbbDDMKAjRQ.
