The Studio at the Pruitt Campus Library Open House September 1, 1 p.m.
The Studio is a space at the Pruitt Campus Library designed to support creativity. Health Literacy Student Fellows
Thanks to a $20,000 grant from the National Library of Medicine, the library will be hosting a Health Literacy Student Fellows program this semester. Selected applicants will work with IRSC faculty, staff, and community experts to increase the dissemination of health information that is accurate, accessible, and available for the community. We would appreciate it if you could share this opportunity (which pays a $500 stipend) with your students. For more information, visit: https://irsc.libguides.com/healthliteracystudentfellows
Brackett Book Club
The Brackett Book Club meets the second Thursday of each month at 3:00 pm in the Laura (Riding) Jackson pole barn on the Mueller Campus. Students, employees, and the public are welcome. Check out a copy of this month's book at the Brackett Library. For more information, visit https://irsc.libguides.com/BrackettBookClub
Pioneer Pageturners
We have a revamped story time hour coming in September. To streamline the theme of the week with high quality read aloud stories, planned activities, and fun songs or movement we will send out a volunteer reader sign up in August where volunteers will sign-up based on the assigned story and activity for each week. If you have a well-planned activity, story, or song combination you would like us to consider, we would love to work with you! Please reach out to Alexis Carlson at acarlson@irsc.edu. Information Literacy
Instructional Research Sessions
Librarians are always happy to host instruction sessions during your regular scheduled class time. These instruction sessions can help students navigate library resources, use any citation style, and identify and evaluate resources. If you’d like to schedule a session for your students, fill out the instruction request form and a librarian will connect with you.
Embedded Librarians
Through our embedded librarian program you can have a librarian available to your students within your course shell. Librarians can provide research assistance within Blackboard through course messages, discussion board, and one-on-one student consultations. Email library@irsc.edu to arrange for an embedded librarian.
Appointments with a Librarian
The librarians offer in-person and virtual appointments to help students through their research journey. Sign up for a research appointment today.
Plagiarism Quiz
The link to the plagiarism quiz has changed, and is now available here: https://forms.gle/zTEXp4QJSoCUSFxU9. If you have any problems, please contact library@irsc.edu.
Tutoring Services
Peer Tutors: We need you!
The ASC is always looking for exemplary students to add to our peer tutor team. If you have any students in any discipline that you think would fit this role, please have them fill out an application today. For more information, please contact Thomas Lewis at tlewis1@irsc.edu.
Classroom Visits
Upon request, Tutoring Center representatives can visit your classrooms to talk with your students about tutoring services and resource available both on campus and online. Each presentation takes only a few minutes but can be very helpful in building trust and connection between students and tutors, increasing the likelihood that your students will seek tutors out when they are needed.
Virtual Tutoring
The ASC’s virtual tutoring schedule for the semester is available. Students can receive virtual help in a number of disciplines, including math, science, English, and economics, among others.
Smarthinking tutoring is also available 24/7 and is ideal for students who need support late at night or during the weekends, when IRSC Tutoring Centers are closed.
