Environmental conditions appear only marginally conducive for gradual development during the next several days.

Florida - August 23, 2022: The wave that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is watching in the tropical eastern Atlantic is not showing many signs of development at this time.

As of 8 am Tuesday the NHC reports rather small isolated showers and thunderstorms within 60 nautical miles of the low. It is located several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Satellite imagery shows a broad cyclonic circulation with very minimal convection and weak low pressure of just 1010 millibars near 16N and 36W. This tropical wave has its axis along 36W from 04N.

Development, if any, is expected to be slow during the next several days. The wave is moving westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.
