The additional routes will be added starting Monday, Sept. 5, Labor Day.

St. Lucie County - Thursday September 1, 2022: In a move to improve service for St. Lucie County residents living outside the city limits in unincorporated parts of the County, Waste Pro will be running additional routes starting Monday, Sept. 5, Labor Day.

Waste Pro is adding additional routes to rural areas of the county on the same day that its service contract with the City of Port St. Lucie ends.

St. Lucie County’s Solid Waste staff reminds residents to ensure all waste is curbside by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Even if your waste is normally not collected until the afternoon, please ensure all waste is curbside by 7 a.m. because your trash may be collected earlier in the day going forward.

Additionally, St. Lucie County’s Waste Wise App allows you to conduct a search of items to find out whether they may be placed into curbside recycling carts, garbage or dropped off at the St. Lucie County Landfill. The Waste Wise App is available for free download in mobile app stores, including Apple and Android/Google Play.

While St. Lucie County’s Solid Waste staff does not anticipate further service delays, there are things residents can do to lessen the chance of service delays:

• If your yard waste, garbage or recycling is not picked up on your regularly scheduled day, you can leave it out the following day (delayed collections are usually recovered the very next day).

• Containerize as much waste as possible. This includes either bagging or containerizing yard waste to reduce the number of clam piles. This will reduce the chance of your pile being left behind.
