Jessica Schmitt Joins United Way of IRC as Director of Philanthropy

Indian River County - Thursday October 6, 2022: Jessica Schmitt has been named the new Director of Philanthropy for the United Way of Indian River County.

In her role, Schmitt will lead fundraising initiatives based on the community's emerging needs and be responsible for revenue growth and cultivating leadership donors.

“Jessica has a wealth of nonprofit experience combined with a familiarity with our community," said Medith Egan, United Way of Indian River County CEO. "We look forward to her growing her connections with our partners and finding new ways to develop philanthropic support.”

Schmitt has 15 years of fundraising and campaign planning experience. Before joining United Way, she worked as the Executive Director of Literacy Services and helped lead the organization through Board development, strategic planning, and commemorating its 50th Anniversary. She also brings experience from positions with Indian River Habitat for Humanity and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indian River County.

“After serving various local nonprofit organizations for the past 15 years," said Schmitt. "It’s like a full circle moment to serve and support many organizations within our community.”

Jessica is an avid community volunteer, has served as the volunteer Council Director and Board Chair for Girls on the Run, and currently serves as the President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Indian River Chapter. For over 12 years, Ms. Schmitt has been an active advocate for girls and a mentor at Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
