VBPD: $1.7M Worth of Cocaine Found on Beach Turned Over to DHS

50 individually wrapped packages of cocaine were found near the Spires Condominiums in the 3600 block of Ocean Drive on October 7.

Vero Beach - Tuesday October 18, 2022: The Vero Beach Police Department reports that the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken into its custody the 50 individually wrapped packages of cocaine were found near the Spires Condominiums in the 3600 block of Ocean Drive on October 7.

According to DHS, each of the 50 packages is valued at $34, 000, which amounts to $1.7-million dollars worth of cocaine.

Where the cocaine came from and what led to it being washed up on the shore in Vero Beach is not known. DHS said they'll continue the investigation and try and find out, in the meantime the cocaine will be destroyed.
