Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital Welcomes Four New Physicians

Vero Beach - Wednesday November 2, 2022: Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is proud to welcome four new physicians to its staff: urologist Jamil Syed, MD; cardiologist Lubka Ilieva, DO; electrophysiologist Allan Welter-Frost, MD; and radiation oncologist Jean-Pierre Obeid, MD.

Dr. Jamil Syed earned his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed the Urology Residency Program at Yale New Haven Hospital. During his education, he co-authored more than 40 research publications. Dr. Syed provides care for the complete range of urology conditions that affect the bladder, kidneys, prostate or male genitals, with a focus in cancer care.

Board-certified cardiologist, Lubka Ilieva, DO earned her medical degree at Ohio University, Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago. She went on to complete the General Cardiology Fellowship Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Ilieva is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine; National Board of Adult Echocardiography; and Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. She holds professional memberships in the American College of Cardiology, American Osteopathic Association and the American Medical Association.

Electrophysiologist Dr. Welter-Frost specializes in the full spectrum of clinical cardiac electrophysiology disease processes. Upon earning his medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Dr. Welter-Frost completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. He went on to complete the Cardiovascular Sciences Fellowship Program and Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Dr. Welter-Frost was a hospitalist with Bay Pines VA Healthcare System in Florida.

Jean-Pierre Obeid, MD, earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed the Radiation Oncology Residency Program at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Obeid holds professional memberships in the American Society for Radiation Oncology, American Society for Cancer Research, The Radiosurgery Society and the American College of Radiology.
