Port St. Lucie - Saturday November 5, 2022: The Oxbow Eco-Center is resuming the St. Lucie Water Champions program for adults who want to make a difference in their community starting Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Designed for ages 18 and older, St. Lucie Water Champions is a comprehensive educational and action-based program offered to St. Lucie County residents at no cost. The program includes in-person and virtual sessions to interact with water resources professionals, engage in hands-on activities, plan volunteer action projects and conduct field studies.
Along with developing projects to solve community water issues, the program aims to help educate adults about the important and complex role that water plays in our environment.
The 2022-23 St. Lucie Water Champions program is scheduled on selected Wednesdays and Saturdays from November through January. The program will have three major focuses: Stormwater, water quality and landscapes (community and personal). The virtual portions will be on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays will be field trips throughout the county depending on the topic (weather will determine when and where field activities are held). Transportation will be provided for the field trips.
Registration for the St. Lucie Water Champions program is open, so be sure to register early as space is limited to 12 participants. To register, visit: www.oxboweco.com or call 772-785-5833.
