South Florida - Wednesday November 30, 2022: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a Notice to Navigation warning of a low power line east of the Port Mayaca Lock, before the Railroad Swing Bridge. The lowest point of the power line is on the north side of the canal.
The Channel is still open to navigation, but the Corps advises that boaters should be cautious when navigating through the area.
According to the Notice, the latest report received by the USACE stated that a sailboat with a mast height of 46 feet was able to clear the low wire.
