Fort Pierce - Monday December 5, 2022: Fort Pierce Police have arrested a suspect in a a hit and run traffic homicide that claimed the life of a 19-year old woman last month.
Fort Pierce Traffic Homicide Investigator Shane Stokes arrested 29 year-old Marcos Gonzalez-Salinas of Fort Pierce on Friday. He has been charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in great bodily injury, driving while license is suspended resulting in great bodily injury, and possession of methamphetamine.
The crash was reported at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday November 22 at the intersection of South 13th Street and Boston Avenue. A white Toyota SUV was headed westbound in the 1200 block of Boston Avenue approaching South 13th Street. It failed to yield the right of way to a Kia 4-door sedan coming south towards Boston Avenue. The Toyota crashed into the Kia and then fled the scene.
A man, a woman, and an infant were inside the Kia. The infant was not injured, the man was still in critical condition as of Friday, the woman, identified as 19 year old Loocyka Da Sooina was pronounced dead at Longwood Hospital shortly after the accident on November 22.
