Martin County - Monday December 5, 2022: After days of tracking leads, Martin County Detectives have captured 30-year old Jared Alexander Diaz who is accused in the stabbing death of a Port St. Lucie man in Hobe Sound.

Diaz is accused of stabbing Robert Tyler Meadows to death late in the afternoon, on Saturday November 26.

The stabbing took place in The Preserve, a gated Community in Hobe Sound. Meadows was living with his girlfriend in the exclusive community. They were among a number of renters in the home where the killing took place. Diaz was visiting the home when, MC Detectives say, the two men got into an altercation during which Diaz stabbed Meadows multiple times, then fled.

Diaz's arrest took place late Thursday night, December 1, in Jacksonville. The MCSO was assisted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Martin County Sheriff Office's Warrants Unit and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s K-9 unit.

A release from the Martin County Sheriff's Office states that when Diaz was found in a home in Jacksonville he attempted to flee again by jumping out of a window. However, the Jacksonville K-9 unit was waited outside of that window in anticipation that Diaz would try to run again.

Diaz has been charged with manslaughter and he has been brought back to Martin County to face those charge.
