Tallahassee - Tuesday December 13, 2022: – The Indian River State College Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex was among firefighting services and firefighters recognized Monday at the 2021-22 Florida Fire Service Award Recipients.
The IRSC Public Safety Training Complex was named the 2021 Fire Service Training Center of the Year during the ceremony that was held in the Senate Chamber at the Florida Capitol.
The Training Complex and other members of Florida’s firefighting community were honored by Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis for their outstanding accomplishments in the fire service industry during the 2021-2022 Fire Service Awards.
Each individual or facility was nominated and selected by various fire service organizations across Florida.
"It’s not just the firefighters that keep us safe, it’s the educators, inspectors, investigators, instructors, volunteers, and training centers that ensure we are protected," said Patronis. “As we saw last year with the tragic Surfside building collapse and again this year following the impacts of Hurricane Ian, Florida’s dedicated firefighters run towards unbelievable danger at a moment’s notice to save lives."
