Groundbreaking for 12-Acre Park in Port St. Lucie

City of Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie - Thursday January 12, 2023: Ground was broken Thursday morning for a new, family friendly, 12-acre city park in Port St. Lucie.

The Riverland Paseo Park is being built south of Discovery Way on the southwest corner of Community Boulevard and Marshall Parkway at 12151 SW Community Blvd. It'll be located across from the Riverland Arts & Culture Center and next to the newest residential community of Valencia Walk at Riverland. It will be the City's first recreation area west of Interstate 95.

“This park is proof that public-private partnerships work and can truly benefit all our citizens," said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin. "The City is grateful to GL Homes for stepping up to the plate and working with us to make this park a reality."

GL Homes is serving as the General Contractor for the project, and Parks & Recreation staff will maintain the park. It will feature a 2-acre dog park, lighted softball and soccer fields for nighttime play, restrooms, field bleachers and shade structures, and a concession stand.

“Today marks an important milestone for Riverland Paseo Park,” announced GL Homes Division President of St. Lucie County, Ryan Courson. “This beautiful park will enhance the recreational opportunities and quality of life for the surrounding neighborhood. Residents and their families will enjoy Riverland Paseo Park for years to come.”

The park is slated to open the summer of 2024 and it will be open to all visitors. It will join over 40 other parks maintained by the City's Parks and Recreation Department.

“We’re excited to see this beautiful park come to fruition,” said Bradley Keen, Parks & Recreation Assistant Director. “Not only will the lighted athletic fields provide ample space for residents of all ages to be active, these new amenities, as well as the dog park, deliver new spaces to connect with the outdoors and neighbors.”

The park will also have fenced running yards for all-sized dogs near the entrance to the Valencia Walk subdivision. The dog park’s pet-friendly amenities include a dog wash, pet waste disposal stations, climbing boulders and shade structures. The park will allow regular vehicle parking as well as parking for 25 registered golf carts, which are allowed to drive on the Riverland Paseo.
