Florida - Tuesday January 24, 2023: Brightline has announced the following road, lane, and bridge closures as a result of the ongoing construction and upgrades along the rail corridor from Miami to Orlando

Motorists and watercraft should proceed with extra caution through work zones and adhere to posted detour signs, speed limits and other signage.

ORLANDO EXTENSION (ORLANDO to WEST PALM BEACH)

Orange County

Beachline Expressway/SR 528

Eastbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 between Narcoossee Rd. and SR 417 (milepost 13-15) Continuous daytime shoulder closure, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eastbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 between SR 417 and Innovation Way (milepost 16-18) Continuous daytime shoulder closure, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eastbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 between Dallas Blvd. and SR 520 (milepost 27-28) Continuous daytime shoulder closure, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Westbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 between SR 520 and Dallas Blvd. (milepost 28-27) Continuous daytime shoulder closure, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Weekdays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Friday, February 3.

Nighttime, single lane closure:

  • Weekdays: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Friday, February 3.

Westbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 (milepost 40 – 42 & milepost 45 – 46)
Daytime, single lane closure:

  • Weekdays: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Friday, February 3.

  • Industry Rd. traffic wishing to access eastbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 will be directed to travel south on SR-524/Clearlake Rd. to Michigan Ave., travel east on Michigan Ave. to US-1 and travel north on US-1 to access eastbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528.

  • Westbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 traffic wishing to exit at Industry Rd. will be directed to exit early at US-1 (Exit 46), travel north on US-1 to Cidco Rd. and travel west on Cidco Rd. to access Industry Rd.

  • Industry Rd. traffic wishing to access westbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528 will be directed to travel north on Industry Rd. to Cidco Rd., travel east on Cidco Rd. to US-1 and travel south on US-1 to access westbound Beachline Expressway/SR 528.

Crossings / Road Closures

Melbourne – Railroad Crossing at Lake Washington Rd.
Full road closure until 7 p.m., Friday, February 10.

Detour Information:

  • Eastbound Lake Washington Rd. traffic will be directed to travel north on Stewart Rd. to Parkway Dr., travel east on Parkway Dr. to US-1 and travel south on US-1 to access Lake Washington Rd.
  • Westbound Lake Washington Rd. traffic will be directed to travel north on US-1 to Parkway Dr. travel west on Parkway Dr. to Stewart Rd. and travel south on Stewart Rd. to Lake Washington Rd.

Melbourne – Railroad Crossing at Eau Gallie Blvd.
Full road closure 7 a.m., Friday, February 17 to 7 p.m., Monday, February 27.

Detour Information:

  • Eastbound Eau Gallie Blvd. traffic will be directed to travel south on Apollo Blvd. to Sarno Rd., travel east on Sarno Rd. to US-1 and travel north on US-1 to Eau Gallie Blvd.
  • Westbound Eau Gallie Blvd. traffic will be directed to travel south on US-1 to Sarno Rd., travel west on Sarno Rd to Apollo Blvd. and travel north on Apollo Blvd to Eau Gallie Blvd.

Melbourne – Railroad Crossing at Prospect Ave. (LONGTERM CLOSURE)
Full road closure through February 2023 for bridge work at Crane Creek. Crossing will be fully closed until completion of work.

Detour Information:

  • Eastbound Prospect Ave. traffic will be directed to Stone St., travel south on Stone St. to WH Jackson St., travel east on WH Jackson St. to US-1 and travel north on US-1 to access Prospect Ave.
  • Westbound Prospect Ave. traffic will be directed to US-1, travel south on US-1 to WH Jackson St., travel west on WH Jackson St. to Stone St. and travel north on Stone St. to access Prospect Ave.

Melbourne – Eau Gallie River
Daytime bridge work operations, including pile driving, Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., continuing through Q1 2023 to construct a railroad bridge on the east side of the new active railroad bridge.

Melbourne – Crane Creek
Daytime bridge work operations, including pile driving, Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., continuing through Q1 2023 to construct a railroad bridge on the west side of the new active railroad bridge (southwest bank).

Palm Bay – Turkey Creek
Daytime bridge work operations, including pile driving, Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., continuing through Q1 2023 to construct a railroad bridge on the east side of the new active railroad bridge.

Detour Information

  • Eastbound Aviation Blvd. (32nd St.) traffic will be directed to travel south on 43rd Ave. to 20th St., travel east on 20th St. to 11th Ave., travel north on 11th Ave. to 21st St., travel west on 21st St. to US-1 and travel north on US-1 to Aviation Blvd. (32nd St.).
  • Westbound Aviation Blvd. (32nd St.) traffic will be directed to travel south on US-1 to 20th St., travel west on 20th St. to 43rd Ave. and travel north on 43rd Ave. to Aviation Blvd. (32nd St.).

Vero Beach – Railroad Crossing at 8th St. / Glendale Rd.
Full road closure until 7 p.m., Saturday, January 28.

Detour Information

  • Eastbound 8th St. traffic will be directed to travel south on Old Dixie Hwy. to 4th St., travel east on 4th St. to US-1 and travel north on US-1 to 8th St.
  • Westbound 8th St. traffic will be directed to travel south on US-1 to 4th St., travel west on 4th St. to Old Dixie Hwy. and travel north on Old Dixie Hwy. to 8th St.

St. Lucie County

Railroad Crossings

Port St. Lucie – SE Walton Rd.
Daytime flagging operations, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for rail work. Crossings may be closed briefly (1-2 minutes) as trucks enter and exit SE Walton Rd.

St. Lucie and Martin Counties

High Speed Testing up to speeds of 110 mph

Daytime testing, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., through Monday, January 30. Flaggers and law enforcement will be present at the following railroad crossings where trains will operate at high speeds.
