MCSO: Truck Driver Arrested on Hit and Run Charge, with Injury
Martin County - Tuesday January 24, 2023: Sixty-two year old Thomas Cornman was taken into custody last weekend and charged with felony hit-and-run with injury,
thanks to a number of tips called in by citizens.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says those enabled them to find the truck that hit a bicyclist in Palm City, and then fled the scene leaving the cyclist with severe injuries.
Martin County Sheriff's Hit and Run task force Deputy Eric Day followed up on the information provided by the callers and located the box truck in question parked in the area of Ranchwood Street in Palm City.
Upon inspection, Deputy Day identified damage to the passenger side mirror which was consistent with that of the collision. Information about the driver and passengers was also confirmed.
In addition to being charged with felony hit-and-run with injury, Cornman was also charged with operating on a suspended driver’s license with knowledge - third or subsequent offence. His arrest was the third hit-and-run arrest in the last seven days in Martin County.
