Port St. Lucie - Wednesday January 25, 2023: To help remind residents of their monthly pickup day for bulk waste, the City of Port St. Lucie is distributing a free magnet and encouraging residents to add their waste pickup days to their mobile device calendar.
Residents are invited to come to City Hall’s front desk to have a staff member look up their bulk waste pickup day and mark it on the writable magnet. Residents are encouraged to post this magnet on their refrigerators as a reminder of when to set out their monthly bulk waste. The magnet can be picked up at City Hall, 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd., Bldg. A Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).
In addition, the City of Port St. Lucie added a new feature to its solid waste map that allows residents to automatically add their pickup days to their smartphone and laptop calendars. More than 1,700 people already have utilized this new feature. To join the trend, follow these easy instructions:
1. Click here: https://pslgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=d837c1c81e3640c585be748ae7a1ebf6
2. Once the map loads, type in your address in the search bar.
3. When your address has been located, click "Add to Calendar."
Under Port St. Lucie's contract with FCC Environmental Services LLC, garbage, recycling and yard waste are all picked up once a week on the same day. Bulk waste is picked up once a month on the same day, but the exact day depends on location.
What is bulk waste?
If you have items too large to fit inside your garbage cart, such as furniture, mattresses, large toys, exercise equipment and appliances then it is considered bulk waste, which is now collected once a month.
How much bulk waste is allowed?
The limit for bulk waste is 2 cubic yards per month, which is about the same size as a sofa or a refrigerator.
When should residents put it out?
Residents are encouraged to place items curbside no later than 7 a.m. on their pickup day but no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening prior to collection.
What if a resident can’t wait for their bulk waste day?
Residents can utilize the City’s Voluntary Drop-Off Site seven days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to dusk, at the Public Works Complex on the corner of Cameo Boulevard and Crosstown Parkway, behind the green, fenced-in area, just west of Florida’s Turnpike overpass.
