IRC Sheriff Deputies Seize a Pound of Meth and Arrest Davon Taylor on Drug Charges

Indian River County - Friday January 27, 2023: Indian River County Sheriff Detectives seized a pound of methamphetamines' and arrested Devon Taylor on drug charges.

According to a release from the IRC Sheriff's Office, Detectives learned that the 25-year-old Taylor, of Oxford Florida, was scheduled to make a meth delivery on Monday January 23 "to an unknown source in the Whispering Palms neighborhood" of Sebastian. When Taylor arrived Monday evening, detectives closed in.

"Taylor attempted to flee and ran off behind a residence and was seen reaching toward his waistband", states the release. After a brief foot chase, Taylor was apprehended and a gallon-sized zip storage bag containing about 1 pound of meth was found in the grass near him.

Taylor was charged with:

- Trafficking a Controlled Substance - methamphetamine
- Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device
- Tamper with or Destroy Evidence
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Sell or Deliver
- Lease, Own, or Rent a Conveyance for the
Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance
- Resisting Arrest Without Violence
- Driving While License Suspended

Taylor’s bond was set at $222,000 and he booked into the Indian River County Jail.
