2nd Annual "Drive the Speed Limit on Indian River Drive"

Remember for Change

Fort Pierce - Monday February 06, 2023: A commemorative ceremony is being held Tuesday to encourage residents to slow down on Indian River Drive. Its sponsored by Remember for Change, in memory of a young woman killed two-years ago.

Claudia Trewyn Bradley was 19 years old when a drunk driver speeding down Indian River Drive on Super Bowl Sunday in 2021 slammed into her car and killed her. To honor her memory, Claudia’s mother Melanie Trewyn formed a non-profit called Remember for Change.

“The non-profit Remember for Change is inviting listeners to remember their loved ones who have been impacted by drunk and drugged driving by helping to change state laws and local drinking culture and raise awareness," said Melanie Trewyn.

It is the second year now that “Remember for Change” has organized a commemorative event they’re calling “Drive the Speed Limit on Indian River Drive".

Trewyn is encourage anyone who want to support the effort to gather at 9 am at the entrance to the Savannas Recreation area on Midway Road. From there a caravan of cars will proceed north up Indian River Drive

“There will be police and Sheriff escorts," said Trewyn. "They have volunteered to bring awareness to this. So, we’ll be headed north on Indian River Drive, take the round-about at Citrus, come back to Old Fort Park, and if people would like to say a short prayer or remembrance.”
